Thanks Matt – Best Day Ever on the Columbia River! I feel very fortunate because I’ve lived here in the Kootenays for 46 years, and enjoyed many memorable days on the River ….but Yesterday was Really “Exceptional.” It was my 1st charter with Matt – we met at 8.30am and I wasn’t overly optimistic because, despite sunny skies, the temperature was about 3C and there was a chilly wind blowing downriver, which would make casting a challenge.
First Impressions were “Impressive” to say the least – most notably, a boat fully equipped for Columbia River conditions with 80hp Jet Motor; High Performance Electric Motor; Premium Safety Equipment on Board; at least half a dozen Top Quality Fishing Rods, Reels and Lines – all Rigged for varying fishing conditions to insure that the client has the best possible chance for success.
The “Only” other component for a successful charter is “COMMUNICATION” with the Guide and trying to find a way to make the most of the “Fishing Experience” together…. and in this respect, Matt was the best I’ve ever met. His Handling of the Boat, Knowledge of Fishing Conditions and Navigation of the River were EXCEPTIONAL!
We Released 14 Rainbows between 16 – 20″, including a couple of double-headers, Lost about 6 and “Missed” at least half a dozen others because we were chatting, sharing info, or just enjoying the sunshine and spectacular scenery.
This Experience should Definitely be a #1 Bucket List Adventure for any Fisherman Living in, or Visiting the Kootenays.
